Mazen Basrawi, Counsel, Office of the Assistant Attorney General for Civil Rights, Department of Justice

Mazen Basrawi is Counsel to the Assistant Attorney General for Civil Rights at the Department of Justice. Mazen graduated from Boalt Hall in 2004 at which point he joined Disability Rights Advocates in Berkeley California as an Equal Justice Works fellow. While there, he orchestrated and argued the landmark case National Federation of the Blind v. Target Corp. Mazen subsequently joined Bingham's San Francisco office for a two year stint. Prior to joining the Justice Department, Mazen organized support for now President Obama within the Virginia Muslim-American community. Mazen was also the Disability, Arab-American and Muslim-American liaison for the 56th Presidential Inaugural Committee.
