Ty Alper is the associate director of the Death Penalty Clinic at the University of California at Berkeley School of Law, Boalt Hall. Before joining the faculty of Boalt Hall, Ty was a staff attorney at the Southern Center for Human Rights in Atlanta, where he represented Alabama and Georgia death row inmates in all stages of state and federal post-conviction proceedings. In 2003, Ty received the Recent Graduate Award from his alma mater, the New York University School of Law, in recognition of his professional achievements. His publications include "Lethal Incompetence: Lethal Injection is Exposing More Than Torturous Executions," The Champion (Sept/Oct. 2006). On May 8, 2007, Ty testified before the California State Senate Public Safety Committee regarding challenges to lethal injection as a method of execution in California.
