Vanessa Huang is Campaign Director for Justice Now, the nation's only teaching law clinic that partners women in prison with local communities to stop imprisonment. Vanessa facilitates legislative and communications campaigns promoting decarceration and engages in grassroots movement building to end all forms of violence against women and LGBT people. She is a member of the SF Bay Area chapter of INCITE! Women of Color Against Violence and the local planning committee for Transforming Justice, the first national meeting of LGBT activists, attorneys, and community members to challenge the systemic criminalization and imprisonment of transgender and gender variant people. Prior to Justice Now, Vanessa has interned for Congresswoman Barbara Lee as a caseworker in the district and written a column for ColorLines Magazine, reporting and analyzing the war on terror's impact on communities of color.
