Workshop Description
This workshop will provide students with basic skills to work with client mental health issues they might encounter in a variety of public interest work situations. The workshop will focus on a hypothetical situation developed by the facilitators to engage participants in discussion.

Fundraising Fundamentals for Public Interest Advocates

Workshop Description
Without money there is no fight, which is why fundraising is an essential tool for all public interest advocates. This interactive workshop will provide you with an overview of the component parts of an effective fundraising campaign from grantwriting to individual solicitations to membership development. It will also give you helpful hints for working through the process of what is likely to be one of your first fundraising endeavors - pursuing a post-graduate public interest fellowship to launch your successful public interest career.

Organizing as a Legal Strategy

Workshop Description
Public interest legal advocacy often involves some combination of litigation, legislative action and community organizing. This workshop will examine the relationship between lawyers and the communities they represent, and how lawyers can effectively use community and political organizing in their representation. Participants are encouraged to discuss legal campaigns they are currently contemplating or pursuing.

Working with Low Income Homeowners and Tenants During the Housing Crisis

Workshop Description
This workshop will provide a brief overview of foreclosure law as it applies to both homeowners and tenants. The workshop will then center on a discussion of best practices in advocacy for homeowners facing the threat of losing their homes.
